Every Sunday at 7 PM, the Book Mavens Book Club meets online for a discussion about their monthly book. Group discussion leaders and books rotate monthly and books are purchased for participants using church funds. In Book Club, we cover a variety of topics such as history, social justice, and world cultures and we read many different types of books such as graphic novels, fantasy, historical fiction, middle grade fiction, and nonfiction. Through games, projects, writing, research, and reading, Book Mavens learn about literature and the world beyond the book. We value respectful discussions and abide by a group covenant. At the end of each month, the Book Mavens enjoy a themed treat to celebrate the book. Though we mainly meet online, the Book Mavens also love to get out in the community for fun adventures and projects. In the past years, we have created a Story Path that is located on EPC’s walking trail and took a train trip to Fort Worth. If you are interested, anyone can join the Book Club. Our current members include youth and adults, but everyone is welcome. Even if you can only come for one month, we appreciate having you with us. To get involved with Book Mavens Book Club, contact sponsor Leah Wyckoff or to find more information about past books, see our book display in the EPC Narthex.
